Sustain Arts is a collaborative effort to connect knowledge and networks, building the collective capacity of the cultural sector, one region at a time. Sustain Arts/Chicagoland is the realization of that endeavor, serving the Chicago metro area, including Cook, Lake, Kane, McHenry, DuPage and Will counties in Illinois, and Lake County Indiana.
Sustain Arts/Chicagoland Platform
The Sustain Arts/Chicagoland platform was designed by and for those working in the region’s arts and cultural ecosystem, including:
- Executive directors, marketing and development staff at non-profits
- Foundation program officers
- Trustees and individual donors
- Creative industry leaders
- Public advocates and policy-makers
- Researchers and journalists
The intuitive visualizations of funding, audience participation, and organizational data enhances the public’s understanding of the region’s cultural assets and contributes to informed strategies for sustaining them.
Sustain Arts/Chicagoland is a collaborative undertaking, with input from regional and national leaders in art and culture. The Chicagoland local home for Sustain Arts is a consortium of arts organizations including See Chicago Dance (formerly Audience Architects), Forefront, Chicago Cultural Alliance, Illinois Humanities, Arts Alliance Illinois, Chicago Artists Coalition, Ingenuity, University of Chicago Cultural Policy Center, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and Choose Chicago. The platform is powered by Archipelago, a product of Fractured Atlas, with data visualizations provided by Stamen Design.
The project has intentionally assembled a broad cohort of individual and institutional funders, all of who believe strongly in data-driven decision-making. A complete list can found here.
